Upgrade Your Home. Reduce Energy Costs. Access Available Rebates.
The Home Renovation Savings Program helps Ontario homeowners complete energy-efficient upgrades with valuable rebate support. Supported by Enbridge Gas, Save on Energy, and the Ontario Government, this program can significantly offset the cost of qualifying improvements, particularly when upgrading to a high-efficiency heating system.
At Kawartha Eco Climate Control, we help Peterborough-area homeowners understand the eligibility requirements, provide the official quotes needed for approval, and complete the installation to exact program standards.
What is the Home Renovation Savings Program?
This program is designed to make energy-efficient upgrades more affordable while helping homeowners:
- Lower monthly energy bills
- Improve indoor comfort
- Increase home value
- Reduce environmental impact
Two Primary Paths to Savings
Path 1 – Bundled Upgrades (Energy Assessment Required)
This option requires a pre-renovation home energy assessment, the completion of at least two eligible upgrades, and a post-renovation assessment. Participants also receive a rebate (currently $600) to offset assessment costs. Eligible bundled upgrades may include:
- Insulation upgrades
- Air sealing improvements
- Windows and doors
- Heat pump water heaters
A registered energy advisor provides a report outlining recommended improvements.
Path 2 – Single Upgrades (No Assessment Required)
Some upgrades qualify without pre- and post-assessments. These may include:
- Cold-climate heat pumps (rebates may be available up to program limits)
- Solar panels and battery storage
- Smart thermostats
Eligibility forms typically must be completed before installation for certain upgrades. We assist homeowners in following proper program steps to avoid delays or disqualification.
Heat Pump Rebates
Heat pumps are among the most impactful upgrades this program provides. Heat pumps are among the most impactful upgrades this program provides. Homeowners can get up to $7,500 in rebates for qualifying cold-climate air-source heat pumps and up to $12,000 for ground source systems.
Important: You generally cannot apply for two separate rebate programs for the same heat pump installation. (e.g., OHPA and Home Renovation Savings). We will assist you in selecting the best rebate program according to your home and eligibility. (Rebates vary by eligibility and upgrade type.)
Benefits of upgrading to a heat pump:
- Efficient heating and cooling in one system
- Lower operating costs compared to electric resistance heating
- Reduced fossil fuel reliance
- Consistent year-round comfort
Brands We Install
We offer the best in cold-climate systems approved for the rebate program, including Mitsubishi, Midea, and TempShift. Proper sizing (via a heat-loss calculation) and installation are critical for both home comfort and program compliance.
